Mercabarna has adopted telecommunications with enthusiasm so as to provide the best possible service to companies located in the precinct, most of which are involved in the sale and distribution of fresh produce, sectors in which telecommunications represent a great strategic advantage.

The Mercabarna telecommunications network consists of:

• Fibre optic network throughout the entire precinct.
• IP telephony, with 1GB bandwidth and 100% guaranteed throughput.
• 110 Wi-Fi antennas (wireless communications) enabling total mobility for users throughout the precinct.
• The Mercabarna telecommunications network has been extended to include the Mercabarna companies that have warehouses in 22AL (the 44 hectares of land, property of the Consorci de la Zona Franca (Zona Franca Consortium), next to the Mercabarna precinct, for the exclusive use of companies in the food industry.

The Mercabarna closed user group telecommunications operators are
Al-Pi and Vodafone. With 5,000 lines this is one of the largest closed user groups in Spain.
