Mercabarna’s Training Area, created in 1987, is one of the most prestigious and experienced centres for training for a professional career in the food industry, particularly for those who will be involved in handling fresh produce.

The Area’s training activities are certified by APPLUS (a company accredited by ENAC, the Spanish National Accreditation Authority) to ISO 9001 standard.

Occupational training

• Aimed at unemployed people who would like to find work in the food industry.
• The courses are highly practical, and given by working professionals who have been trained for teaching.
• The courses are free of charge, financed by various public administrations.

Continuing training

• The Training Area provides each company or type of student with the specialised courses they require to meet their specific needs.
• Thus, after specific analysis, the course is designed (content, timetable, materials, etc.) with the aim of achieving maximum flexibility for the company while maintaining the effectiveness of the training.
• These courses, given by practising expert professionals, are aimed at those involved in the food production, commerce and distribution industries at all levels of responsibility.
